About the CIACC Educational Partnership
The concept of a Partnership was conceived in 2006 by members of the Children's Inter-Agency Coordinating Council in Ocean County NJ. These council members recognized a need for ongoing, standardized exchange of procedural information between local schools, the child protective service agency and children's behavioral health programs.
Fast forward to 2009 in Camden County to discussions at our Camden County Childrens Coordinating Council , and agreement that there is also a need to standardize and exchange procedural information between local schools, the child protective service agency and children's behavioral health organizations.
Since the inception of the Camden Local System of Care in children's mental health, the services and supports available for children are continually growing and evolving. Throughout New Jersey, the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (formerly DYFS) has undergone major transformation as a result of the Child Welfare Reform, and the Division of Child's System of Care (formerly Div of Child Behavioral Health DCBHS) with a system of children's behavioral health care services was established. Meanwhile school initiatives like Intervention and Referral Services (I&RS) and Shared Services, encourage local schools to coordinate with community-based organizations to meet students' needs.
Through this Partnershp, professionals from each of the three systems are provided up-to-date-, ongoing training and education on the services that are available and how to access and effectively coordinate with those services, which will help ensure that children receive the help that they need.
Through enhancing the knowledge of and communication between professionals, Camden County children may see the full benefit of these systems working together to meet their multifaceted needs.
